A new partnership between The Coaching Manual and Working With Parents in Sport (WWPIS) will see a number of educational resources made available to clubs, coaches, and parents - including books and WWPIS's online platform.
WWPIS works with over 10 National Governing Bodies, sporting organisations, football academies, clubs and schools all over the world, and was founded by its CEO, Gordon MacLelland. They have also provided content for The Coaching Manual including articles and guides for a number of years.
Gordon is the author of three books, made available as part of the partnership with TCM:
- 'Great Sports Parenting' for parents of children aged between 5-11
- 'Engage' for coaches on building positive relationships with players' parents
- 'Two Hats' providing support for the parent coach.
The Coaching Manual and WWPIS will also schedule a series of workshops and webinars in the near-future to support clubs and coaches who are invested in developing their relationship with players' parents as well as workshops and webinars to support parents to help their children fulfil their potential on and off the field.

CEO Gordon MacLelland said, "We are extremely excited to be working with The Coaching Manual and providing such a wide range of valuable support for football organisations across the world in a cost effective, sustainable manner. We are also extremely excited by the positive impact that we hope this can have across The Coaching Manual community."
Gordon has a background in education, and after a successful career coaching all age groups from U7’s through to adults and running sports programs in schools, he is now a leading figure in the 'parental engagement' space for clubs and organisations around the world. Gordon is also the author of the three books made available to The Coaching Manual's community through this new partnership. A fourth book for ‘Performance Sports Parents’ is coming very soon.
The Coaching Manual's Head of Product Development, Terry Barton, said: "We were already very familiar with the excellent and useful resources that Gordon and WWPIS produce for coaches and parents, so we're really proud of this partnership. A player's parent is the most important stakeholder in their child's soccer journey, so a club's relationship with parents should not be overlooked. The resources we are making available to the TCM community with this partnership will make it easier to provide a more positive experience for all."
WWPIS's partners include the Youth Sport Trust, Spond, England Rugby, British Gymnastics, Gymnastics Australia, UK Coaching, Basketball England, Cricket Scotland, League Football Education, Irish Football Association, Sport Ireland and Sport Northern Ireland, Leinster Rugby, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Newcastle United and a number of football clubs across the EFL.
